First - YES - weight training WILL 'bulk up' some women - who have the genetic potential to get bulky.

Second - eating 'clean' and choosing naturally healthy foods is VERY different than eating properly AND staying within a daily caloric range that promotes fat loss and 'leanness' - something I talk about much more in the book.

Third - this is one of the BIGGEST reasons I advocate and preach bodyweight type fitness & exercise programs.

This should help if you take action based on these 3 bits of info.

Mandy, I have the same exact problem. I bulk up even though I keep my eating in check. It is very difficult to lose inches from my waist and when I lift weights, my arms especially get bulky when I want them to be thin and toned.

HI Joey

You have mentioned loads about hip-bum-thigh, but not much on the abs. For me the abs have always been the last to reduce, the most difficult to budge. Does your program results include results in that area as well? I used to do at least 5-6 cardio intense trainigns pwe week, My weight training woudl bulk me up without definition, and I would gain body fat. When I was teaching aerobics I was at my my peak fitness ever, yet my body fat was over 33%!!! I found that traing too much cardio, my body swells up, too many weight sessions, I would bulk up ... and still I would have this apron around my belly. I am not a junk food person, and choose naturally healthy foods. Do you beleive that your training program may make a difference without doing more harm? When I did Body For Life, I gained fat and muscle in two weeks. I am not talkign about the scale, it was visible and instead of becoming lean , I became podgy!
