I often eat organic oatmeal, about 1/2 cup uncooked,
mixed with 1 TB flaxseeds
pour a little hot water over it, then add
1TB sunflower seeds OR
1TB walnuts OR
1TB almonds OR other raw nuts
about 1/2 cup fresh non high sugar fruit or a 1/2 banana ( yup I know it's sugar content)
about 2 -3 TB organic fat free plain jogurt
4 drops stevia, cinnamon... yum, that lasts a long time

If I have this, I don't have constant carb. cravings, and feel like my sweet tooth is satisfied.
When I think about all the money we have given out for cookies, ice cream and what not, we DO save money when we eat healthy, as long as we are not following some crazy super protein diet.
Veggies and fruit that is in season is cheaper than sweets.

I eat more fish, and some turkey and chicken, and find that Costco is really good with the fish prices.

Now I will be starting the Blow Torch Diet, so I have to be good :))

The reason people complain that eating healthily is too expensive is cause they're eating TOO MUCH!!! If they eat healthy food and a healthy amount of it they would probably be spending less money than they do on their unhealthy diet. Great work Joey!

Yes, even in Europe we can get healthy breakfast foods! (Dr. Meusli was Swiss, after all...) I'm in France, where I use Jordan's Special meusli: whole oat, wheat and barley flakes, dried raisins, apple, papaya and banana, sunflower seeds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, almonds and coconut. No sugar, coloring, or preservatives, and I can get it at my local hypermarket! They also make crunchy versions for those who want the extra sugar... Look for this, Nicky, I think it's originally a British brand - and maybe they have in a Spanish version too! When I don't have this on hand I toast some whole multi-grain bread with sunnies and flaxseed in it for a change, but usually I use that for sandwiches.

With a yogurt, fresh fruit and a fruit juice, this keeps me going often well into the afternoon before I feel hungry, and even though it costs a bit more because of the weak dollar I'm not too far off the mark for a 'cheap and healthy' breakfast!

Bon appetit, everyone!

Hey everyone! I'm not sure if we get that in the U.K. but will look out for it! Yeh i totally agree, eating rubbish junk food makes u feel soooo bad and it really expensive. Eating healthily is an investment in your future and should be part of everyones life, it need not cost a fortune. Often we get conned into thinking we need this suppliment this fad and that, but all we really need is a healthy and balanced attitude to life and nutritionally sound food. Joey u rock, as ever cutting through the bs xx

Hey everybody! Wow! I never tried the Kashi cereals, but you all make them sound fabulous! The protein in one serving is whopping! =] Just fabulous! I am sure that it's loaded with fiber, too. I am always snacking on a fruit or veggies in the morning. I am not usually a cereal person, because I don't have much time in the morning to sit down at the table and eat. I typically take healthy foods to go and they can sustain me until the afternoon, but the response about the Kashi products are amazing! I may have to try Kashi, due to the wonderful recommendations from you lovely people. Disgustingly, I used to eat the high-fat, high-cal, high-carb breakfast foods and I am totally fed up and sick of it! Joey is absolutely right and I love how blatantly honest he is. Somebody has to be! I trust you, Joey and your information is very accurate =] The media brings about so many fads. A person can easily get caught up in the yo-yo dieting and nutritionally-depriving diet scams. I like how Joey tells it like it is. You're awesome, Joey! =]
