My Deepest Dieting Fear Conquered: Fat Loss Is Forever…
-
A few weeks ago I mentioned that I’ve finally been able to make the complete transition (my life-long dream) to working from home (or anywhere else I wish to take my laptop)…
But what I never told you is…
During the last year, leading up to this milestone, one of my biggest fears of working from home was “what’s going to happen with my eating habits once I’m operating from home on a full time basis?”
See – as you already know – I’ve had my personal challenges since childhood with my weight, body image, food codependency and a wicked sweet tooth…
I’m quite different from the majority of personal trainers/weight loss coaches who have “always been in shape” – most of them have never lived through the experience of living “a full time battle with your body and mind”…
But I’ve been on the other side and I know exactly what it’s like…
During my adult years – ESPECIALLY with kids in the house – one of my biggest challenges has been ‘being at home on the weekend after a long, busy work week…’
I would simply eat whatever I could get my hands on. Up until about 4 years ago – I couldn’t conquer this demon – it was the last ‘weak point’ that I needed to fix – or so I thought…
During the last 4 years – I did beat that challenge – and weekends were no longer “2 days of uncontrollable binge eating” – they were under complete and natural control and in line with my goals…
But I had never been home EVERY DAY… And when I realized what this type of challenge this situation might hold for me – it was a bit scary and unsettling… But onward we go…
Well it’s been about 2 and a half months since I started working from home on a full time basis – and I’m quite excited to share… “the final demon has been conquered” – as a matter of fact my state of mind, self awareness and “living in line with my desires” is easier and more natural than I thought it would be…
The goal I set for myself about 5 years ago was to get back to my high school weight of 133lbs – BEFORE I hit the age of 39 – and STAY at that weight – with a body-fat% of no higher than 12%…
Well – my weight is holding an average steady of 133.5lbs with a body-fat% ranging between 9.8 and 11.5 and I’m 38 years young …I DID IT!!
Did this happen “by accident” or just “by itself”? No way… See, this type of ‘change’ doesn’t happen by accident – there are things I did… simple, subtle yet powerful things… – that ANYONE can do (yet most people don’t do – because they are not shown how) – to make this kind of self improvement success happen…
And these are precisely the things I’ll be teaching when I open the doors to ‘Every Day Fat Loss’ at the start of 2009. Lots of questions have been coming in via email and on this blog about the program – so I’ll answer some of them here:
What Is ‘Every Day Fat Loss’
-1 – It is ideal for any woman who has struggled with her weight – and currently desires to get the fat off and keep it off…
-2 – Even though it’s primarily for women – men can participate as well – and get the results…
-3 – The program is NOT for the clinically obese. If you fall into this category – you need medical intervention, first and foremost. ‘Every Day Fat Loss’ is not a program for the clinically obese.
-4 – IT is not “just another e-book”… EDFL is structured to provide the missing elements that have prevented you from achieving fat loss success in the past. This requires more than a book or a PDF, for most people.
-5 – EDFL will be open to people all over the world – and the tactics will be applicable to the food choices in any country.
-6 – Exercise is NOT a major part of EDFL. This is not another unrealistic 2-hour per day fitness regime combined with a psychotic bodybuilder diet being disguised as a simple weight loss program.
-Exercise will be a tiny part of EDFL – I’ll actually be teaching you how to do as little exercise as possible (via online videos) – while still getting the fat off… If you choose to do more, that’s up to you. In today’s busy society – I realize every minute of the day is valuable – especially to the busy women of the world.
Well – that’s all I have for today. I hope my story of success has energized you and given you hope for what you are capable of – and what powers are inside you waiting to be tapped into…

Hi Joey,
How do I get a copy of your EDFL ebook?

HI Joey,
What constitutes “clinically obese”? And why is this program not for them? I am curious as maybe this describes me. Not sure.
Thanks

Sonia – EDFL will be a complete program that I release in early 2009
Lea – there are several ways to ‘diagnose’ “clinically obese” – the problem is there is too much subjectivity is these methods… therefore – the best and safest way is to get in touch with your primary physician and simply ask him/her… “Do you categorize me as “clinically obese”?”
Once you have this answer – you can move forward.

Hi Joey,
Will the new program be helpful for someone who wants to lose the last 10lbs? I’ve been struggling with the last 10 for months now, as soon as I lose 2lbs, I gain them right back 2 weeks later. It’s becoming increasingly frustrating and people don’t seem to understand, which doesn’t help the situation.
I’d also like to decrease my BMI which seems to fluctuate between 24-26%. I’m 36 and 5′5, so that number is too high for my liking. I’m wondering if your new program is what I’ve been looking for or if I should go back to paying weight watchers.
Thanks,
Colleen

Hi Colleen – ‘Every Day Fat Loss’ is going to be perfect for you… Based on 7 years of research and 3 years of specific feedback – EDFL has been put together for women who need to lose 10 – 70 lbs.
- about 85% of EDFL clients will be shooting for 10 – 25 lbs of fat loss – while the other 15% will be going for the higher range of fat loss…
Forget Weight Watchers – what we have in store for you puts WW to shame…
Hope this helps,
Joey

Thanks, Joey. I will patiently wait for its release in 2009. Since I’m not the most patient person, so I’m going to hope for a sneak preview. A girl can dream, right?
Oh and something else for you to think about. How about a Joey Atlas app or 2 for the Ipod Touch? I loaded a couple of the interval training apps but they leave a lot to be desired.
Thanks again!

hi joey, i want to know what is the best cardio to do every morning before breakfast! thanx!

Joey… I am SO excited about the EDFL book! I can’t wait! My story… I’ve always had a sexy figure and I’ve never had a worry about dieting, exercising, etc… until about 2 years ago. I’ve slowing noticed a little extra… here and there. (mostly in my lower belly, thighs, hips and butt. I only need to drop maybe 10 pounds and firm up. I’ve purchased your DVD’s and, I have to admit, have not been too consistent; only because my day to day schedule is a bit hectic. I know.. that’s NO excuse.
I have a desk job, which I know isn’t helping matters. I believe I eat fairly well… but, know that I should get more cardio in my daily routine. I told myself, last night, that that’s it. I refuse to let myself go… I jumped on the treadmill and walked 2 miles and did your lower body work out. Joey, I guess I’ve never really appreciated the body I used to have and I WANT IT BACK. It’s been bringing me down quite a bit. I spent a week in Jamaica and a week in Barbados this year; and the last thing I wanted to do was put on my bathing suit.
I was so discouraged. Everywhere you look you get promises for weight loss and everyone says their way is the “best way”. I just don’t know what to believe and what NOT to believe anymore. I’ve looked at your blow torch diet and, honestly, I can’t see myself following a plan like that. I need something that’s easier to follow on an everyday basis. I hope I’m making sense here. I’m going online right now to purchase your “Fatness to Fitness” book. I’m hoping to get some good pointers from it. I love your videos… they are real and I can “feel” the burn. I’ve only done level 1, so far. Maybe I don’t give it enough time. I seem to get discouraged when I don’t notice results right away… and then I slack off and get depressed. It’s a horrible cycle. Anyway… I just wanted to pick your brain and see if you had any suggestions for me. Thanks, Joey. It’s nice to be able to write to you and know that I will recieve a reply back.
Warmest, Sonia

Hi joey,
I enjoy doing the bootcamp style full body workouts that include a lot of push ups, back rows with a barbell (about 55 lbs), other dumb bell excercises, body squats etc. The one’s that I do is fast paced, usually last 30 mins, has no break between sets and are so intense and sweaty that they also serve as a cardio workout as well. From a muscle building perspective, will I sabotage my work out efforts if I do these on consecutive days? or 5 days per week?

Hi Joey,
I’m looking forward to your new book in 2009 but in the mean time I have your upper and lower body workouts. I’d like to know how to incorporate both of these workouts and cardio in any given week. I’ve looked on your other sites for info on how often to do all three (upper, lower and cardio) but i haven’t been able to find anyting. What is the best combination of the three to lose fat and tone muscle? Thanks for your help.

Hi, Joey,
I’m waiting for your new system, I’m not overweight or such, “just” a stress/emotional eater which definetely will make me into one… I wonder how your new book will deal with that issue.
I have a question regarding L-carnitine. I searched through the articles but I haven’t see anything about that one: is it the same junk as those supplement pills or is it effective? I know that our body has them in a small rate, too. I eat them before work-out.

I work at home (or wherever laptop goes) and I had the same fear — but I ended up losing weight because I found it much easier to fit in exercise and I didn’t eat out as much as I did at the office!
