Lower Body, Core, Abs and Cardio Exercise COMBINED
September 9th, 2008Lower Body, Core, Abs and Cardio Exercise COMBINED
- by Joey Atlas
________________________________________________________________
As you know – I love exercising outdoors – and today was one of my favorite workouts. I do this once a week for my legs, butt, hips, thighs, abs, core and metabolism boosting, calorie burning cardio.
I woke up at about 7am when my 4 year old, Darah, came in and climbed up on the bed to wake me up… I brushed my teeth, got my running shoes on – saw the girls out the door – then hit the pavement…
I did a brisk jog for about 1.25 miles AWAY from the house – broke a nice sweat – saw some other morning exercisers as well…
Then turned back TOWARD the house…
…and did 30 walking lunge touch-downs (15 per side)…
- followed by 50 brisk walking steps
- followed by 30 all-out sprint strides
…then I kept repeating ’til I got home:
- 30 walking lunge touch-downs…
- followed by 50 brisk walking steps
- followed by 30 all-out sprint strides
Now – depending on your fitness level…
…you can vary this many ways… For example, if you are an out of shape beginner…
You can do a brisk walk for 3/4 of a mile – AWAY from the house…
Then turning back toward your house, you can do modified, half-range walking lunges with a shin touch-down – 10 to 20 reps for starters…
Then you follow those with a brisk jog for about 20 to 30 strides…
…followed by brisk walking for about 50 strides…
You’ll only appreciate the effectiveness of this mini-workout AFTER you’ve done it. Let me know how you like it…
Some Secret Tools I Use
On another note – I’ve received A LOT of questions regarding readers wanting to start their own websites and newsletters – asking for my recommendation for online tools that are very easy.
My 2 all time favorites are (one is free to get started and the other is extremely cheap):
http://www.BlinkWebsite.com <=Click to Visit) - I WISH this was around 7 years ago when I first got started. This website building tool is so easy - a 5 year old can put together a professional site in an hour or 2 - it's an awesomely simple site and its free to start building your own site and free to get your own domain - and when you are ready to go live with your site - it's only a few bucks a months - if you are interested in starting a web based business - start here... EXTREMELY HIGHLY recommended...
My other all time favorite is:
http://www.EmailsForProfit.com <=Click to Visit) - I've tried 4 different email/newsletter services - and this one is tops - keep in mind - I'm a classic technophobe - so anything I use has to be dead easy for me. This service is downright 'dead easy' and super effective - for the low-cost - you'll never find anything else like this for your web communications and business building. SUPER HIGHLY recommended...
I’m using both of these services right now – and my life has become VERY easy with them…
Don’t forget to leave me your comments below about the leg, butt, hip, thigh, abs, core and metabolism boosting, calorie burning cardio workout I’ve outline above for you…

What is a walking lunge touch down?
September 9th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Joey,
I have not ordered any DVDs or Books yet. Although I am very interested in toning up my legs, hips, thighs and butt. Have you ever heard of Leg Magic machine, and if so, what is your input.
Thank you
September 9th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
OK – here is the inside scoop.
The Leg Magic ONLY strengthens the inner thigh area – THAT’S IT.
It was tested by a panelist of women who were first very impressed by the infomercial and company generated reviews. After testing the Leg Magic. The majority of the panelists said they would not buy it.
The workout plan that comes with it is not a good one – at all.
For $180 – it’s a total waste of money.
There is a lot of scripted bogus in the infomercial – and its
all intended to increase sales. Go here to see recent complaints about the Leg Magic:
http://www.infomercialscams.com/scams/leg_magic_complaints
Let me know if this helps…

September 9th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Nice workout! I’ve been doing a version of this for awhile, without the touchdown, and you do feel like you’ve done a nice comprehensive workout – just need to add-in an upper body component either that day or the next. I’ve been using your LBHT exercises for awhile now and began wondering how I can spice up my cardio interval training and started to include the walking lunges – works for me. I’ll be adding the touchdown component.
Thanks for putting out this workout regimen – it helps to see what a Professional Trainer is doing, and I certainly respect your common sense approach to exercising & workouts.

Joey
I can’t wait to try this tomorrow morning to see if I will be able to do this. I walk every morning with my husband now that I am recovering from a broken toe. During that six weeks of not walking I did use your lower body mat work and your Abs of Steel Core of Strength for while I was out of commission in the walking/power walking department, along with anything I could modify for upper body. This is going to be a challenge I am going to look forward to.
Thanks for posting it.

Joey, I use your HBT video and absolutely love it. I DO feel there has been a change to my body even though I am 60 and have not been exercising all of my life. I just started at 50! However, it is trainers like you who tell the truth and back up your beliefs with hard-core, no nonsense videos and relay only the facts that are helpful to us that have helped me the most. I love your light approach to a serious problem – the lower half of my body! You are right: if you say you have no will power – you don’t; if you don’t think you are meant to be fit and lean – you’re right. It is as much in the mind and spirit as it is in the body. And I guess you can tell by my email address – I own and operate a bakery! Thank you so much for being my fitness guide. Who loves you too! You’re the best. Keep it up.

I’ve been on the Blow Torch Diet for 2 weeks and have lost 9 pounds so far. Hooray!! And I have to say I have not been hungry–I miss certain foods–but not hungry. I started the beginning DVD this week–(the one that I sent for when I bought your book)I’m pretty sore in places today—but I know that will pass the more I do the exercises. I enjoyed your book and especially liked the down to earth-normal food you can work with for the diet. I really liked the nurse’s options in your book which help to mix your diet up a little-for a change once in a while. I am very impressed with your book–very informative-right to the point. Glad I decided to correct how I looked and found your website to help and encourage me. Keep up the good work!!

Yes, please explain so that we all understand what a walking lunge touch down is. Thanks, Joey
September 9th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Stay tuned Ladies – I’ll put up a demo of the walking lunge touch-down…
Shirley – good going! Keep at it and keep me posted – I want your “after” story and photo!
…and ’spread the word’ about this site!
Thanks!

Hi Joey! I started the LBHT workout about 3 weeks ago. It’s great. I am 41 years old, 5′4″, 110 lbs. I don’t need to lose weight, but I have no muscle tone and like others, feel like my butt just melts into my legs. I suspect I’ll be keeping up these exercises forever because, though they wear me out twice a week when I do them, I love the way I feel after. But I am curious, when can I expect to see real definition? I know it’s working, I feel it, and it is encouraging, I’m just anxious I guess to see it. A few more weeks, months? I’m in even if it takes a year. I’m just curious. Thanks!
September 9th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
hi Joey, sorry but could you also explain how the walking steps and the all-out sprint strides are done? I’m a little bit confused there.
thanks for all your great advise, been doing your LBHT workouts for a while, love it and love the results! I´m from Lima Peru by the way.
thanks again

Joey,
I bought your LHB&T Makeover Workouts several months ago to try on my own. As the Coordinator for a well known fitness club, I would never consider endorsing anything that I didn’t try out first. The workout was so awesome that I brought it to our club, ran it for 3 paid sessions…and now they want it back. EVERY WOMAN felt a difference, and even though they can do it on their own (I printed off copies of the workout for them to follow), they absolutely loved doing it in class with a group. I think they felt like they worked even harder in a group setting than just at home. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how well the workout was received. Most of the ladies went down at least 1 size in the pants just in the first session…which was just 7 weeks. And BTW, I love reading you & Tom Venuto’s stuff! Keep up the great work.

omg! That’s the sort of workouts I do as well except I do my on the beach, just cos it hurts more hehehehe! sometimes I add in pushups followed by a 1 minute plank hold. Also instead of step ups I run into the sandhills and do a lap or 2 each side…I love it and it’s sooo good to be working out outdoors in the fresh air.
Variations are endless!!
Keep up the great information and newsletters joey

Hi Joey,
I got your email this morning and decided that during lunch today i was going to give it a try. I took two of my girlfriends from surrounding firms with me and we tried it out.
They said that it felt amazing and they could feel the effects of the workout already. It has helped them and myself with body image problems and we are going to continue doing it 3 times a week now.
Off to a great start

Joey, needed to drop you a note regarding your abs of steel wo.Short personal history – Fairly in shape 63 year old who has had cronic lumbar back issues sense 1970. Bed ridden for a 7 to 9 day period 1 to 2 times per year. I practice as a full time ski instructor, skiing 100+ days a season and road and mtn. bike summer months. My back problem is not from being inactive, but of overuse of certain muscles. Last spring the fire dept had to extricate me from the 2nd floor of my home. 2 weeks after the incident I started the part 1 of abs of steel. really took my time advancing into part 2. its been 3 months now and H-O-L-Y —-,what a huge difference. Thx guy! I must admit, i took a peek in the mirror and said,”who is that”. Great WO, i’m indetbted to you. So far not even a hint of a back spasm.Ureka!!!! PS what the heck is a lunge touch down? Hello Joey,
I have your dvd set, but I am having foot surgery due to morton;s nueroma and I was wondering what exercises i can do while I am immobile
October 7th, 2008 at 1:16 am
Hi Joey! I appreciate the exercises you’ve shown especially the TBH workout. I enjoy working out as much as I can and my wife actually turns to me for advise on how she should be working out. I have already shown her the TBH exercises you taught and its working out pretty well for her. Both of us are now seeking for exercise routines that might help us in the abdominal area. Yup, that good old tummy trouble. I was a former track and field athlete and so I am more on the slim side and I didn’t use to have a round belly. I’m 5′8″ and used to have a 29″ waist. No matter how much I gain during the holidays (in terms of waist size – for obvious reasons) I only ran for 3 days a week for 2 weeks and lost the extra inches. After I reached 30, it seems no amount of aerobic exercise and abdominal exercise has brought me back to at least a proportionate figure. What would you advise as the best exercise/s for this as this is also what my wife is asking me about.
Thanks,
James

Hi joey,
I’m fairly lean built (45 kgs – 156 cms), but after having my 1st child (3yrs ago) the post belly fat never went away in spite of walks, running or swimming…I did loose the excess weight though. I’m hoping the exercises would help in that area, since it’s been almost 3 years now and I still haven’t managed to get a flat stomach.
Also, I’m planning to have a 2nd child in a year’s time. Would the exercise regime be safe to do during pregnancy or should I hold on for another year before starting the same. I’m planning to order the ULBHT makeover Dvd from amazon. Thought I’ll check with you before I do so. Could you let me know…?
Thanks,Pooja
2. I am residing in Indonesia, could the DVD’s be couriered, instead of me having to download an e-version of the book / materials. I’ve realized, after downloading and taking printouts of it, one tends to forget or misplace a few pages here and there or may not follow correct instructions….. ….. Could you advise a store that might have yours DVD’s in stock, or if I order online, it could be delivered to my doorstep all the way to Indonesia…. (From what I know amazon.com does not deliver to Indonesia)

Happy Halloween!!!!:)
Hey Joey,
Thank you for all that you do to help everyone succeed in being totally fit for life!:)
Joey, is losing weight different for men and women or would you say it’s relatively the same technique, how much is the book fatness to fitness, what is the ideal weight loss for a 5′0” woman, and how can a person be taller perhaps even modelesque?
Thank you!!!:)
Warmly,
Hillary

Hey Joey,
The ULBT workout has just arrived. I took a quick glance at the dvd and before you knew it I was doing the workout. I am so excited about finally ordering it. It took me 3 months to decide if I should. Now that it has arrived I am glad I did.
