Ok - about this Fat Loss Disc…
2 weekends ago - me and Jeri-Jo (my wife) took the kids to the park to run and play, etc… We usually grab a soccer ball or a football - but this day - I grabbed a frisbee…

$7 Disc Causes Safe & Fun Fat Loss
-
I’ve always loved playing frisbee - ever since I started throwing one as a youngster. During my teen years we’d throw it so much we had to start using glow in the dark frisbees - because we just didn’t want to stop, even when the sun went down…
We never got tired because it was endless fun. Seeing who could throw it farther, faster, trickier - and of course who could catch it behind the back, between the legs, behind the head - you name it…
Coming back to the present… now in my older youth - it’s still just as fun - but now I have the joy of teaching my kids how to throw and catch a frisbee - and they’re loving it…
We all broke a good sweat, burned a bunch of calories - even got a little good muscle soreness from all the different movements involved in throwing, chasing and catching this magical little disc…
I was so back into it - I ran to Target during the week and picked up the MaxFlight from Wham-O that you see pictured above (I got mine in black though) - and it cost just a few cents over $7. Now how’s that for a fun, effective and portable piece of fat burning cardio equipment that the whole family can use??
We went back to the park again this past weekend - and did our ‘Frisbee-Fit’ workout with the MaxFlight I picked up… If you want to get yours - just go to Amazon - they have a ton of frisbees…
My main point here is… effective exercise and weight loss - doesn’t have to be boring, monotonous or expensive - as you an see from my perfect example above…
Be creative, have fun - and “think outside the gym”…
Do you have any good alternatives to traditional, stereotypical types of cardio exercise? (You can’t say ’sex’ - because I just said it ;-))
Whatever ideas you have - just list them below - by clicking on ‘Comment’…

How about running around after a 4 and 2 year old great neice and nephew..quick little story: was at the beach with my sister, her daughter and 2 little ones..so my neice decides (the 4 yr. old) to try and run the length of the beach, mom can’t keep up with her, grandmother (my sis) can’t keep up with her, so off I go..and at one point my great neice turns to see where I am and she literally stopped cold cause I was right behind her, the look on her face was priceless. Like how are you doing that..and I am 48 year older than her!

I like to play with my dogs… sometimes we’ll play “gotcha” where we take turns chasing each other around the park or yard… sometimes we’ll see if they can jump over my leg when I’m in a lunge or warrior pose and sometimes if I can make them stay still I can jump over them… don’t try this unless you have really well behaved dogs or you might end up jumping ON them :). It’s good mental exercise for them and great physical exercise for both of us. I’m also thinking about getting them into agility (where I’d be required to run the course next to them (just not on the objects).
I have 3 border collies and a dachshund… even when I’m not playing with them in the yard, throwing the ball or running around…they do not let me sit still very often (at least the border collies don’t). I am MUCH more active now that I have dogs (they are all under 3 years old).
Since I’ve started the Atlas plan I’ve also started rotating my dogs in the morning to see who gets to go on a run with me around the neighborhood… when I have just one of them with me (the others will get treadmill time that day instead of a run) then we race each other and I end up pushing myself a lot harder than when I try and run on the treadmill… If I try and take all of them with me then I just get pulled around the neighborhood

Ever since I got a dog, I have been so much more active. A new motivation arose inside me which was to make her happy and healthy. We hike and walk a few times a week, but even running around the back yard with her gives us both exercise and quality time together. So I suggest, if you don’t have a dog already and you want to get in shape, consider getting one if you can. If you already have one, make your dog happy by spending more time on walks and hikes. Hikes are great because you can usually let them off leash if they are obedient and you can enjoy the serenity. A dog is a great companion and even better motivation to keep you going because if you love your furry friend, you want them to be healthy as well.

I just turned 45,and I’m with you Sallie. I have 9 children and the youngest is 7 mos.My goal is to keep up with them. I love the frisbee story. When you have so many children, finding time to work out is challenging so working out with my children is my top priority. However I am very interested in getting signed with you as well Joey. Thanks for all the info you make available.

Hey JOEY ATLAS! 10/08/08
Well, this is probably abit traditional…. but wanted to put it out
there. I went to my nearby High School Football field the other
day….and proceeded to do a 20+min cardio workout that i really
enjoyed. I did 3 or 4 different activities to mix it up abit……
1. I warmed up by jogging 4 times around the track (which is 1 mile)
while doing this each time i got to the grandstand …i jogged up
and down and OVER the steps..
2. after the 4 laps……i concentrated ONLY on 1 grandstand and went
up and across and down …and up and across and down…..and just
kept making up different jogging paths on the Grandstand (for
probably about 10 minutes)….and then
3. I went on the actual grass football field along ONE SIDELINE and
sprinted 40 yards…..and then casually walked to the oppossite
SIDELINE (which provided some recovery time) ….AND sprinted
another 40yards…..and REPEATED THIS
SEQUENCE for 10 sprints total…….The VERY NEXT day people at the
gym were asking me if I HAD LOST WEIGHT !… AND this was from doing
this ONLY ONCE……i m going to shot to do this 3 x’s a week with
a day REST in between …..probably do this routine on MON, WED, AND
FRi.
In SUMMARY….it was a beautiful day…..(Of course depending on
where u live weather will be a consideration….) but there was also
alot of GOOD DISTRACTION/ACTIVITES going on…..high
schoolers….girls hockey team practicing (NOW THAT WAS A DEFINITE
PLUS FOR THE GUYS) the boys soccer team was playing over on the far
field (some EYE CANDY …PERHAPS for the LADIES)…and alot of
people just hanging out and watching….etc……
This type of workout was VERY ENJOYable, fun, and challenging……
anyone can tweak the amount of total time spent at it, numbers,
laps, sprints ….the yards your sprit-
ing etc…..and GET A TREMENDOUS WORKOUT…..while getting some
much needed FRESH AIR!
I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND GIVING IT A TRY!
Take care,
Paul Barrett

Hey Joey !
I forgot to add ….that i really liked your frisbee idea. I used to
have alot of fun using it growing up ….and it sounds like it would
be A GREAT TIME to DUST IT OFF (OR but a NEW ONE) AND bring it back
and add it to the FITNESS TOOLBOX!
TAKE CARE!

Joey, I teach an aerobics class 2 days a week at my church and on Monday’s we do step aerobics and Thursdays is mostly aerobics, walking, strength training and floor exercises, but last week I did a medicine ball and a frisbee!! We had a ball, doing tricks, lifting our legs, jumping high..and of course falling down, but it was so much fun. So glad to hear read your message about your experience with the frisbee. Next week I have a badminton set, and we will play with that…it breaks up the “same exercises every week”, and we have tons of fun..Being frisbee fit..I like that. Marilyn Hodges

Jump roping is great indoor/outdoor exercise!

Hi Joey
A couple of things. I learned how to do a basic pole dance routine (at a proper studio) took inches off the entire body and gave me upper body strength all very quickly…unfortunately i tore a muscle in the forearm when i went to intermediates, which has taken some time to heal…but you get that at 44 and the oldest in the entire school.
The other one is something that’s a hoot - try learning how to juggle. The amount of times you have to bend over to pick up the darn balls is astounding. And the kids tried it too, so another cheap and cheerful exercise you can do at home.
Cheers
Elle

Dear Joey,
Love your section and the great ideas that REALLY DO WORK.
I find skipping a great way to loose weight, If I dont get a chance to take a walk or get in a lil exercise I take my music and skip outside.
I find the combination of your fav tunes with some fresh air and sunlight a quick way to get your whole body moving while working on the tan, the best part is its time efficient and you can do it anywhere. Dancing around your appartment is another good one and makes you feel great.
Why have diamonds as a best friends when you can have a skipping rope and a killer body.

Hey Joey I love the frisbee story, but here is something different that I love to do outside or inside the houla hoop, 10 minutes of this burn 100 calories, when I go outside to do it, the neighbors kids love to do it with me to see how long we can actually keep it going, sometimes I go for 1/2 hr.

hey joey
i decided im going out to buy me a houla hoop, and a skipping rope, wahoo and a frisbee, i am going to add the houla hoop and skipping rope to my daily exercises and the frisbee to my weekend exercises, fell the burn
